In NM you don't need any particular build to solo with henchmen for any character.

You do need to try to make the best out of the skills and resources available to you. That is to say, while you don't need a particular build, you do need to try to assemble a skill bar that works well. You will get access to better skills, weapons, and armor as you go along, so the idea (as in any RPG) is to improve things as you go.

As a general rule, I'd say that, first time starting in Prophecies you should concentrate on your Primary profession, at least until the point where you can change it. Early on in the game you don't have enough skills and attribute points to spread yourself too thin.
You may find at times you get to a point where you are having trouble progressing. That usually means you need to tweak your build a bit.

any game can be beaten with henchies. you can have a blank skill bar and still do it. Since you are doing it just with hench run what ever build you want.

Not sure if you get the Hench flagging option with just the one campaign it makes life a lot easier for a couple missions. But to answer your question Core basic skills are adequate to finish the game.

What character class are you trying to beat the game with and are there any missions you currently are having issues with?

as others have said as long as you are playing normal mode you can get away with what most would consider an inferior build, but as long as it gets the job done it makes it viable. You get everything that you need to have to finish the game as you progress through the story line so no need to worry to hard about it. My general rule of thumb is that you should be within a level or two of the henchies level in any given area so that it is of an appropriate difficulty. Since you're playing only proph take your time. The hencies are substantially worse than most (not all) human players so you need to be ready to accomodate. Take your time and don't draw too big an aggro and you should be ok with whatever build you decide to take. most of all have fun! thats why you're really playing the game.

You really can't go wrong with using a necro. Your thread in the necro subforum is a good start. A minion master provides a wall of bodies for melee and will prevent some of the party wipes.

Although most builds mentioned for any profession usually include a "have-to-have" elite, that is not normally available until you have almost finished the campaign, you can spend the time to earn some Balthazar faction and unlock the elite skill (3k pts) and a purchased tome will add it to your skill list.

Do not get discouraged. Players were beating Prophecies with only the Core and Prophecies skills before the release of Factions and Nightfall.

What a pitiful reply, you should be banned for this attitude. If you don't want to help, then don't post, all you look like is a no-life with nothing better to do.

As for the OP question, yes it is possible to finish the game with henchmen only. Just be careful with not aggroing an excess of monsters, and for some missions you may want to do with other players (carrying bundles, splits, etc, are easier with other players specially if you are not a caster).

Yes, Elite Skill Tomes can be dropped in Hard Mode (which you have to finish the campaign to access) or purchased from players in Lion's Arch. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Tomes

An Elite Necro Tome will cost you about 8-10k (most elite tomes fall into this range). And yes it is a lot of money, but the only way to get Aura of the Lich before the last mission in the game.

i suppose the easiest type of build to hench through normal mode proph only would probably be protect monk or minion master.

monk might go something like this:

add to protection prayers and divine favor evenly...

[guardian][reversal of fortune][protective spirit][mend condition] + 3 more of your favorite skills

or the minion master using soul reaping and death magic

[blood of the master][animate bone horror][animate bone fiend][deathly swarm]

of course an elite would help but if you need help with prophecies then you might not have one yet huh?

Like the others have said ,On my other account i did it with hench and enjoyed it ...

Have a look at what mission you are doing and take the respective hench to assist you

Do all the side quests for free skills and as you progress you will get to understand the hench also in flaggiing

Put a Longbow in one of your wepon slots for luring in some areas as if your mid or back line this gives you a little time to be in best position .

Enjoy the game thats what counts here and you will enjoy by following some of the posts ...

A lot of guys never have did it with hench only and thats how you get negative responses also ,,,good luck in your gameplay

I'd really suggest teaming up with at least on other human, especially if you are a bit inexperienced. It really helps to have another player doing those missions with you.

Try joining a guild that suits your needs.
